Sparrows Point was once home to the largest steel mill in the world.  Today, it's home to abandoned and torn down buildings, environmental contamination and vegetation run amuck. But there is a new plan to bring back the former home of Bethlehem Steel known simply as The Point.

An overhaul of Maryland's gun laws and a repeal of the state's death penalty are facing petition drives which, if successful, would have MD voters decide whether they go into effect. A legislative hearing on the corruption scandal at the Baltimore City Detention Center that had been scheduled for next week has been rescheduled for June and expanded to include more lawmakers. And Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz calls for a new shipping terminal at Sparrows Point, a move he says will create 10-thousand new jobs over 10 years.

Baltimore County Government

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz believes that Sparrows Point is a natural fit to attract 10,000 port-related jobs to the Dundalk Peninsula.  “If you think about it, it has deep water access near the Port of Baltimore; it has great access to two class one railroads as well as direct access to Interstate 695.”
