6pm update: Officials say that no buildings collapsed and no evacuation is ordered, but they were asking residents to relocate while they treated the two train cars that contained chemicals with water and foam. One of the cars contained terephthalic acid, which can have a volatile reaction when treated with water. Baltimore County Fire Chief John Hohman suggested that nearby residents leave, and the County had transportation and shelter for those that chose to do so temporarily. Here, WYPR's Mary Rose Madden talks to Diane Finlayson after a press conference with Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and Hohman.

4:46 update: Sun reports Baltimore County says that the smoke does not include toxic inhalants, and only two uninjured people on board.

A cargo train derailed in Rosedale, near I-95 and Pulaski Highway, in northeast Baltimore County. Hazmat (hazardous materials) teams are on the scene. According to the Baltimore County Fire Department, 6 - 8 cars in a CSX freight train derailed at 7500 Lake Drive and several buildings collapsed. Authorities evacuated a half-mile area, but so far no injuries have been reported. Officials so far do not know what cargo the train was carrying.

According to WBAL TV, the cause of the derailment is not immediately known. Here is a Facebook post by Baltimore County government, at approximately 2:30pm today:

Baltimore City's Office of Emergency Management tweeted this:

The Baltimore Sun reports that “shockwaves” were felt by residents across Southeast Baltimore.
