Gov. Larry Hogan emphasized bipartisan cooperation in his state of the state speech Wednesday. But the Democratic leaders of Baltimore City and Baltimore, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties said that was all talk.
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said Hogan hasn’t made good on his promises to the city.
Just before the governor’s speech, she criticized the Republican executive for holding onto nearly $70 million slated for schools across the state and for canceling the proposed Red Line light rail project in Baltimore.
Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz echoed her concerns.
"There seems to be a continuing pattern with this administration of issuing press releases announcing grand promises but really with minuscule solutions offered," he said. "It's almost like being offered a Big Mac and you lift up the bun and there's nothing inside."
In his speech, Hogan promised new investments in Baltimore's transit and emphasized his commitment to public schools. He also highlighted his plan to cut taxes for retirees and families earning less than $53,000 a year.
