It's not easy to connect with both nature and the Internet. Kelcie Pegher of the Carroll County Times wrote a piece over the weekend about the limited options rural residents have for getting high-speed broadband service. She used data from the National Broadband Map. Here's a screenshot from the map that shows typical Maryland download speeds (darker pink = faster speed).
Maryland has its own interactive broadband map. Go here, click the "Data" tab on the left, and then select "Number of Wireline Providers" in the menu. You'll see that much of Maryland has only one or two wireline service providers.
