Except for the Orioles’ post-season run, this fall is being met with much discontent in Baltimore. After last winter, any sign of cold weather approaching leads to bus stop conversations that start with a grimace and “It’s going to be a cold one...”
But there is one city-wide program designed to get residents looking forward to fall: the Baltimore Free Fall Program.
For the past nine years, the Baltimore Office of Promotions of the Arts (BOPA) has helped facilitate more than 200 free events throughout the city ranging from lectures, performances and workshops to films and dance. According to the program site, more than 35,000 people participated last year. And more than half of them—58 percent—were visiting a venue for the first time.
